The vanishing on the Chesapeake Bay
“Photographer Greg Kahn captures scenes from Crisfield, Md., and nearby areas. The communities on the Chesapeake Bay, which were walloped by Hurricane Sandy, are reexamining their relationship to the water. The bay is a foot deeper than it was at the start of the 20th century, meaning comparable storms surge a foot higher. And the rise is accelerating as the land beneath them sinks.”
