Nice pictures and descriptions of the Экраноплан Лунь (Luna Ekranoplan).  For those of you who aren’t familiar with them, Ekranoplans are also known as WIG (Wing-In-Ground effect) craft and are designed to fly at very low altitude over water.  The Soviet Union conducted a lot more research into WIG technology than the US did, but the concept was never fully validated, despite showing great theoretical promise.

My technical Russian isn’t great; I need to reread this post with a dictionary in hand… 🙂
