To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Landsat imaging satellites, NASA has posted an Earth As Art site that has some beautiful satellite imagery of the Earth.

In an experiment that could revolutionize digital imaging and data storage, researchers at the University of Oklahoma were able to store a black and white image 32 pixels square as binary data within the interactions of a single molecule’s atoms. I’ve always been mystified by the uncertainties and statistics associated with quantum physics, but this is just way over my head. Imagine how much raw information could be stored within molecular media if this technology is perfected…
