The History of Computer Role-Playing Games Part I
Armchair Arcade has written quite an authoritative guide in the feature The History of Computer Role-Playing Games Part I: The Early Years (1980-1983).
Microsoft Photo Info
Microsoft Photo Info is a free software application that
allows photographers to add, change and delete common “metadata” [EXIF] properties for digital photographs from inside Windows Explorer. It also provides enhanced “hover tips” and additional sort properties for digital photographs in Explorer (in Details view).
I found it quite useful, and you can’t beat the price: free! However, in order to download it, you have to go through Microsoft’s draconian Windows verification process, which seems to only work through Internet Explorer. :-p
Every Mythbusters Myth

Van Halen Reuniting
Billboard and Rolling Stone report that Van Halen is reuniting with David Lee Roth for an upcoming tour, with Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang replacing Michael Anthony on bass. I guess I’ll reserve judgment (on both pieces of news) until I actually hear the band…

What We Don’t Know
Wired magazine has a very interesting feature entitled What We Don’t Know:
How did life begin? What’s the universe made of? Why do we sleep? 42 of the biggest questions in science.
This feature is made even more interesting by the addition of a wiki allowing others to contribute and collaborate.

Sweep The Leg!
Pop Candy posted about the triumphant return of perennial ‘80s movie villain William Zabka:
In their new single, Sweep the Leg [check out the video!], a band called No More Kings pays tribute to the Karate baddie, and Zabka willfully plays along. The whole thing must be seen to be believed: Directed by Zabka himself, the epic brings Johnny, Martin Kove (Cobra Kai) and Ralph Macchio into a present-day scenario and even features a cameo by Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell). At one point, Zabka and Kove reenact the pivotal scene from the original film.
The song was decent, but I really enjoyed the video, for obvious reasons. I had no idea that Zabka had done so much (and was nominated for an Oscar!) since his movie roles in the ’80s. Keep an eye out for some other (minor) cameos…
Handmade “Star Wars”
OK, just one more Star Wars link for today. Check out the YouTube video Handmade Star Wars:
This fan-made re-enactment of the final space battle from the original Star Wars movie uses nothing but elaborately posed naked hands (the actors are wearing all black and are nearly invisible) that swoop, dive, shoot and dodge.
