The techno-pop tune by the duo Singing Together first appeared mysteriously in 2002 and quickly topped the charts in Russia. It went on to become a Putin theme song, still played at his rallies. Catchy and ironic, this was a new kind of propaganda song. Reporter Alexis Bloom arrives in Moscow to investigate the making of the song, and how it was used in Putin’s rise to power.

As seen on TV: old people are stupid! That’s pretty much the message in this commercial trying to sell film cameras as more convenient and easier to use than digital cameras. Way to enable the use of antiquated technology…
Don’t get me wrong, film photography may still have some limited applications, but this commercial is not making that case. Instead, they’re employing scaremongering tactics to the geriatric demographic, which pisses me off…

Consolmagno curates the pope’s meteorite collection and is a trained astronomer and planetary scientist at the Vatican’s observatory. He dismissed the ideas of intelligent design – a pseudoscientific version of creationism. “The word has been hijacked by a narrow group of creationist fundamentalists in America to mean something it didn’t originally mean at all. It’s another form of the God of the gaps. It’s bad theology in that it turns God once again into the pagan god of thunder and lightning.”
