I love The Onion. 🙂
Balancing The Budget – Kentucky Style
CNN reports that Kentucky “plans to release 567 felons from jail before their sentences have been served to help balance a teetering state budget, the governor said Monday.” WTF? I’m just speechless at the sheer ineptitude of this…
I Love The 80s
If you are at all a fan of the ‘80s (as I obviously am), then you have to tune into VH1’s series I Love The 80s. It’s on from 9 to 11 every night this week, doing a year by year recap of everything 80s. Last night’s 1980 and 1981 shows were a lot of fun, so I expect more of the same the rest of the week. Previous specials that VH1 has done were not as good, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the shows last night. Don’t miss it!
K.I.T.T. For Sale
Apparently someone is selling this Knight Rider-like custom 1982 Pontiac Trans Am for $40,000. If anyone is still looking for a Christmas present for me, this (or a Back To The Future DeLorean) will do nicely. 😉
Kunstbar
Take a look at Kunstbar, a great Shockwave movie with all sorts of art references. Although Hieronymus Bosch was a little disturbing… 😉 (links directly to Shockwave video)
New CHiPs Series?
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports that CHiPs is heading back to TV. As much as I liked the show back in the day, it needs to stay in the ‘70s where it belongs.
22 Minutes In The Future
The Sci Fi Channel reports that Max Headroom may return to TV. Unfortunately, I didn’t get into the show until after it got cancelled. It always seemed ahead of its time; it would be cool to see it get another chance…
Blame Canada
The Guardian has an interesting report on how Canadians view the United States. “Essentially, Canadians regard all Americans as morons, unless proven otherwise.” Thanks, W. Actually, the story makes some compelling points about American apathy and ignorance towards Canada; one in particular stood out: “the Bush administration has compounded this with a series of gratuitously casual snubs. When the president spoke to congress after the attacks and praised Tony Blair and Britain to the skies, Canada – whose cooperation was crucial to the return to any kind of post-attack normality – was forgotten.” Thanks, W. Way to work that foreign policy…
No giant sea sparrow is known to be endangered by the eating habits of goats.
This New York Times correction sounds like something out of a Monty Python sketch. Or The Simpsons: “I know what those words mean individually…”
Trent Lott on BET
Trent Lott’s remarks about Strom Thurmond have snowballed into a GOP leadership crisis. I knew he was moronic for saying what he did, but I never imagined it would get this bad. Let’s see what kind of spinmeister tactics are whipped out for this…
