According to <i>TheOneRing.net<\/i>, Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema have allegedly settled their litigation and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2007\/12\/18\/28150-peter-jackson-and-new-line-cinema-join-with-mgm-to-produce-%e2%80%9cthe-hobbit%e2%80%9d\/#more-28150\" target=\"_blank\">signed on Peter Jackson to direct <i>The Hobbit<\/i> and its sequel<\/a>, for 2010 and 2011 releases, respectively.  I&rsquo;m unclear on whether that implies that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Hobbit\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Hobbit<\/i><\/a> will be split into two movies or that the &ldquo;sequel&rdquo; will be drawn from other material in the <i>Lord Of The Rings<\/i> canon like <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Silmarillion\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Silmarillion<\/i><\/a>.
