There are many reasons why this is an extraordinarily bad idea (see links below), but I&rsquo;ll just mention the gun for now.  The 30mm GAU-8 of the A-10 holds 1874 rounds, firing at a rate of 3900 rounds\/minute.  The 25mm GAU-22\/A, which fires at a rate of 3300 rounds\/minute, only holds 182 rounds on the F-35A (USAF) and 220 rounds on the F-35C (USN).
