{"id":15569,"date":"2002-09-20T15:08:00","date_gmt":"2002-09-20T15:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.driko.org\/blog\/2002\/09\/20\/science-fiction-author-david-brin-wrote-an\/"},"modified":"2002-09-20T15:08:00","modified_gmt":"2002-09-20T15:08:00","slug":"science-fiction-author-david-brin-wrote-an","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.driko.org\/blog\/2002\/09\/20\/science-fiction-author-david-brin-wrote-an\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Science fiction author David Brin wrote an interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/ent\/movies\/feature\/1999\/06\/15\/brin_side\/index2.html\" target=\"_blank\">review of <i>Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace<\/i><\/a> and has recently followed that up with one on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidbrin.com\/starwarsarticle3.html\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Attack Of The Clones<\/i><\/a>.  Both are incisive, although perhaps dwelling a little too long in critiquing the pseudo-Campbellian mythology inherent in Lucas&rsquo; vision.  Many of the annoying plot disparities and outright illogicalities are cited, although he does admit that the special effects and music were dazzling.  Still, he echoes my thoughts about Episode 3:<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Despite every flaw, there IS a way that Lucas could weave all the threads together and pull a miracle of cinematic legerdemain, causing it all to make magnificent sense.<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;d wager my house that he won&rsquo;t do it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/3501955-85463988?l=www.driko.org%2Findex_blogger.html\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Science fiction author David Brin wrote an interesting review of Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace and has recently followed that up with one on The Attack Of The Clones.
