Enterprise NCC-1701<\/em> for Gene Roddenberry in the 1960&rsquo;s, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startrek.com\/news\/news.asp?ID=129357\" target=\"_blank\">passed away early this morning<\/a>.&rdquo;  A <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/entertainment\/3086645.stm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>BBC<\/em> article<\/a> on Jefferies points out that &ldquo;Although conceived in the years before space flight became common, the overall shape of the <em>Enterprise<\/em> has remained close to [his] first vision, through 10 films and five TV series&hellip; As a tribute to the designer&rsquo;s creation, access tunnels in the <em>Enterprise<\/em> were named &#8216;Jefferies tubes.&rsquo;&rdquo;  It is a testament to Jefferies&rsquo; vision that his iconic design remains instantly recognizable, leaving behind a lasting legacy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/3501955-105889595438336642?l=www.driko.org%2Findex_blogger.html\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Official Star Trek site reports that &ldquo;Walter &lsquo;Matt&rsquo; Jefferies, the art director who designed the original U.S.S.
