It seems that many strings were pulled to not only avoid active duty in Vietnam but also to avoid duty at home in the ANG. Adams' take on all of this? "Bush's enemies say all this proves he was a cowardly deserter. Nonsense. He was a pampered rich kid who took advantage. Why wasn't he called on it in a serious way during the 2000 election? Probably because Democrats figured they'd get Clinton's draft-dodging thing thrown back at them." I think it's a damn shame that this wasn't brought to light, especially when W hawks his ANG service like it actually existed and pretends to be a "regular guy."
